How to Improve Social Conversation Skills

Possessing adequate social conversation skills is an important asset for everyone. These skills can make a person more successful in all parts of their life from dating to work to family. Anyone can obtain better conversation and social skills by following these three tips.

First of all you need to be nice. This is a very fundamental concept and boils down to treating people as you would have them treat you. In order to be a great friend, you first have to be a great friend. So first off, you need to be nice.

Second, you need to show a genuine interest in people. This means that when talking with someone, you need to be interested in what they are saying. However, it is very easy to do the opposite and only want to talk about ourselves. But in order to be a really good listener and show interest, you need to use conversation starter questions and be genuinely interested and enjoy what the other person is saying. Doing this will improve your social skills greatly.

Third, you need to listen. The best way to listen is to look at the person, nod when you agree with what they are saying and make comments. Listening can make you great at conversation because it allows you to focus on the other person. Plus, by listening you will have mastered both the art of conversation and of small talk, which is also very important.

A short while ago, I shared these three tips with an individual who immediately started utilizing them. This person was able to confidently talk with just about anyone. And their social conversation skills were greatly improved because of these three tips.

How to Discover a Top Horse Racing Tipster

Horse racing is the sport of kings. Everyone likes to follow the horses at some stage in the year, even if its just the Grand National.

The reason why horse racing is so popular is two fold. Firstly its a lot of fun and a great day out if you are lucky enough to attend a race track.

Secondly you have the chance to make some good money from betting on the horses.

Only problem with trying to win some money on the horses is that its not as easy as it looks! You really do need to understand the basic concepts of horse racing to help you succeed. Weather, form and draw bias; all these things affect the outcome of a race and the chances of your bet winning!

That is why lots of people turn to horse racing tipsters. They let them do all the hard work so you don't have to. Question is how do you the know the tipster is any good?

There is no simple answer. You are just going to have to try some out. But if you follow these guidelines you will at least separate the good from the bad.

1. They must give you more than one tip. There should be a variety of tips rather than just a single win bet.

2. The tipster should be involved in horse racing; either he was a trainer, jockey or bookie.

3. The tips must be given out free of charge. There is no need to pay for horse racing tips.

Change How You Eat and Boost Your Metabolism to the Moon!

You should know by now that proper nutrition is the backbone of any diet. However, how you eat can make an even larger impact on your success rate to boost your metabolism much more faster so that you can burn fat and lose weight.

Before you begin any type of diet, you must first understand the basic core principles of a healthy lifestyle first. The basic core principles of a healthy lifestyle is proper nutrition (protein, healthy fats, complex carbs, fiber, and foods rich in vitamins/minerals), drink plenty of water daily (1/2-1 gallon), get plenty of sleep every night (7-8 hours), cardio exercise (high intensity works best), and weight training exercise (always put more emphasis on building lean muscle).

You know what it is you should eat daily as I have already mentioned above. Now, what about how you should eat daily? You should eat several healthy small meals daily. This will manipulate your fat burning hormones and boost your metabolism. When this happens, your body will naturally burn fat at a much more accelerated rate.

How can I eat several small meals daily? I just do not have the time?! It's easier than you think to eat several small meals daily to boost your metabolism. First of all, a small healthy meal can simply be something very easy and mobile such as a cup of yogurt, a banana, and a half of whole grain wheat bagel! Now tell me you can't find the time to eat something like that?

Anxiety Attacks - Causes Within Your Body

What Inside the Body Contributes and Causes Anxiety Attacks?

When you are talking about anxiety attacks and your body, it basically comes down to two systems inside your nervous system. They are the sympathetic nervous system, and the parasympathetic nervous system. They are the two systems that either get your body going or calm your body down. They are on autopilot pretty much all the time and take charge during anxiety attacks. Causes of nervousness, short breath, tingling, sweating, and heart palpitation can all be attributed to these systems.

What is the Sympathetic Nervous System?

The sympathetic system is what gets you going. It starts the engine in your "fight or flight" mechanism. It releases adrenaline from the adrenal glands above your kidneys. It causes you to breath deeper to get more oxygen to your muscles. Something that is not well known is that increased breathing actually sucks blood away from the head. This creates lightheadedness and sometimes nausea. This can occur especially if there is no real danger and therefore no action taken to defend yourself.

What is your Parasympathetic Nervous System?

Your parasympathetic nervous system does exactly the opposite of the sympathetic system. It is what returns your body to its natural state. After the perceived or real danger is no longer present, the body will naturally kick this system on and return everything to normal operating standards. It cools you down, turns off the adrenaline, and calms you. This is one reason, other than the physical toll the sympathetic system takes on you, that you are tired after anxiety attacks. Causes of the attack aside, this is your comfort blanket and what you are looking forward to.

How Does Knowledge of these Systems Help Us?

Are Quality Business Referrals In Danger?

When I first started in business, nearly 10 years ago, there were definitely fewer opportunities to network. The unspoken 'rules' were quite simple. You belonged to a group, you got to know the members of that group over a period of time and, if the opportunity arose, you passed business to your fellow members in the form of referrals.

Referrals can be delicate transactions - both for the giver and the eventual recipient. Personally, I don't feel comfortable giving referrals unless I can wholeheartedly endorse the product or service, either through personal experience or a well developed, and trusting business relationship. My reputation is at stake.

If I were to pass on a referral and the recipient of the product or service had a bad experience, that would damage two of my relationships. And, if the recipient of that unfortunate experience was a client of mine, that could have far reaching negative effects on my business as well!

With so many different breakfast, lunch and evening networking groups, taking place weekly, fortnightly and monthly - you can certainly meet a lot of people. But are you going to get to know any of them well enough to refer business to? Also, when you've met at least half a dozen web designers, how do you decide which one to give your referral to?

So while it's great to have so many new networking opportunities, we do need to take care that these are not at the cost of developing precious business relationships and the giving and receiving of those highly-prized referrals.

Small Business Marketing - How to Make Sure People Remember You After Networking Meetings

Networking is an important part of small business marketing, both online and offline. With so many businesses vying for attention it can seem almost impossible to ensure you are remembered long after the event. That's because everyone is doing pretty much the same thing - so you need to be different. Here are a few things to try:

Don't go there to sell!

This is HUGE because just about everyone else is there to sell. When you talk to new contacts, even if you know you have a product or service that would be ideal for them, resist the temptation to go into a sales pitch there and then. Instead, practice being nonchalant and offer to send them an article which may be of interest, or details of something that might help.

Connect People

Act as an 'introducer'. Often small businesses with complimentary offerings can refer work to each other or carry out joint promotions without stepping on each other's toes, eg. a decorator & a gardener, a VA & a book-keeper, a florist & an event organiser.

Offer to help - be genuine

Because people are usually so busy trying to get their message across, they often don't think to ask about the other person's needs. Being genuinely interested in how you can help them will certainly set you apart from the crowd.

Follow Up After the event

This is the part most networkers forget to do or get totally wrong. After an event they either add the business cards they've collected to an ever-growing pile, or they use the contact details to send out spam email promotions & mailers. Following up with a 'nice to meet you' email or better still, a handwritten note in the post, is both polite and respectful.

Doing just one of the above will make you different from most of your fellow networkers; doing all of them will make sure you are remembered, long after the event.

Learning to Lean - The Journey - Author Louise (Barnes) Thompson - Book Review

When I read the story of this autobiography, it must have been extremely painful to revisit those memories, but at the same time very therapeutic and rewarding.

Louise (Barnes) Thompson writes with an authentic voice. She writes about her life struggles, triumphs, and adventures through a series a vignettes of chapters in this heartwarming book. Opening the book and starting Louise (Barnes) Thompson's journey, you soon find that "Learning to Lean" really is just a series of short stories that were just woven together to illustrate a lifetime of events. One reads each story independently and understands the connection to others, allowing the reader to fall in love with the characters which happen to be "real."

Some of the stories are set in the 1940's and 1950's, a time when life was much more simplified and family values actually had more meaning. The author's ability to bring you back to that era was exceptional. As you read, you will be able to put yourself in her place with this very down-to-earth and an open confession. Louise Thompson was born in 1943, still reaping the effects of the Great Depression. Money was sparse and hard to come by and jobs were very limited in those days. Thompson and her family certainly had their share of challenges, tragedies, and personal lost. However, this is a family who puts God first.

Believing strongly in the power of prayer and with such strong faith in God, the Thompson family was able to overcome many hardships, including drug addition, abuse, and grieving the lost of loved ones. God gave them the strength and the courage to remain strong and pull through some of the toughest battles imaginable. It is often said that God won't give you anything that you can't handle. I remember reading this particular Bible verse when difficulties would arise in my own life. There hath no temptation taken you but as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13. This Scripture puts it all in perspective.

As I read "Learning to Lean: the Journey," I learned about strength and hope. The author tells her stories through her eyes with vivid attention to events both good and bad. It is complemented with some colorful photographs from the lives of the families making it even more gripping and intriguing. The pages are packed with moving stories that will trigger nostalgia and personal memories. I found Learning to Lean, one that I grew attached to while turning the pages. I felt sorrow once the story ended, as a book with such authenticity is a rare find. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a believer or anyone who wants to renew their own faith in God. One of the author's main messages in this book is to trust, pray and put God first. God will help you overcome any hardships in life and make you even stronger. All you have to do is lean on Him.

2 Foods That Burn Fat and Tone Muscle Lightning Fast

If you want to successfully burn fat and tone muscle and if you want to do it fast, nothing is more important than a proper diet. In this article I would like to talk about 2 powerful foods you should add into your diet if you want to quickly burn fat and tone muscle.

For effective weight loss, to burn fat, and to tone muscle, you not only need to eat correctly, but also do the following:

1. Plenty of sleep (7-9 hours)

2. Plenty of water (1-2 gallons a day...yes that much!)

3. Cardio Exercise (Limit the amount you do so that you do not end up burning off muscle along with fat.)

4. Weight Training (No brainer!)

5. And of course, proper dieting (protein, fiber, healthy fats, complex carbs, vitamins & minerals)

There are two super foods that are excellent at adding lean muscle, burning off fat, and are overall good for your health. These two foods are avocado and oatmeal.

Oatmeal has a lot of wonderful benefits for those trying to quickly burn fat and tone muscle. Oatmeal contains a good source of fiber, complex carbohydrates, protein, and several vitamins and minerals.....and to top it all off, it taste delicious! Here is a super tip when making your oatmeal to make it a powerful muscle building and fat burning breakfast...mix in protein powder instead of sugar or other sweetener's! So, make sure to have oatmeal for your breakfast (Never skip breakfast!) a few or more times a week for optimum results.

Avocado may have a taste that'll take some getting used to, but boy is it a powerful health food. Avocado contains monounsaturated fat which will help in boosting your metabolism, potassium, and is rich in other vitamins and minerals all important to burn fat and tone muscle. This fruit is also great for other health benefits such as lowering cholesterol, regulating blood pressure, and more! Make sure when you buy avocado that they are fresh and not bruised. You can eat them as is (without the skin), add them to salads, sandwiches, and even healthy salsa.

Seattles Best Coffee - Are You Being Paid To Drink Coffee?

tube.mlmdownlinemaster.com Seattle's Best Coffee began in Coupeville, Washington as an ice cream parlor called the "Wet Whisker" and founded by Jim Stewart in 1968. It was known as "Stewart Brothers Coffee" from 1969 to 1991, when it took on its present name. Seattles Best Coffee was joined with Torrefazione Italia Coffee to form Seattle Coffee Holdings (SCH). SCH built a roasterie for both brands in 1995 on Vashon Island, and began consolidating the workforce in order to maximize profits. The vast majority of SCH coffee beans have come from Peru and Argentina, where the workers can be paid very little to pick the beans. In recent years, this has caused an uproar with American consumers and Border's Book Stores has threatened to stop partnering with the company if the unfair treatment persists. In 1998 AFC Enterprises purchased Seattle Coffee Holdings and changed its name to Seattles Best Coffee (SCC). During AFC Enterprise's ownership SCC's Vashon Island roasterie was upgraded and the company's organic coffee line was established. Brought on by failures from the Arthur Anderson Accounting firm AFC Enterprises was forced to sell SCC to Starbucks in July 2003, retaining franchise rights in eleven countries, Hawaii and US military bases. In November 2004, AFC sold those franchise rights (along with Cinnabon) to a newly-established affiliate of Roark Capital Group, FOCUS Brands, Inc. The Borders bookstore chain signed a contract with Seattle's Best Coffee in 2004 to convert ...

Travertine Tiles Give an Old World Feel

Tiles made from the mineral travertine are a great addition to any home which is based on a rustic look. The tiles are very good at being a complement to any light and warm décor and they can be used as either floor tiles or wall tiles. These are a very traditional looking tile which have been popular in Italy since the Roman times. In fact, the Roman Coliseum is built almost exclusively of travertine stone.

Travertine is a mineral which is formed as a sedimentary rock by carbonate materials like marble is. Travertine is not as hard and dense as marble though because it has not been subjected to the high pressures and temperatures under the ground which are needed for marble stone. Since Travertine is not as dense, it tends to have air pockets which can pose a problem when it is used as a floor tile. These pockets, if not sealed, can allow material to seep into the stone structure and cause staining which basically is not removable. There are two options for dealing with these voids. First, the air holes can be filled with a man made material. This usually matches the existing colors of the stone tiles but of course the tile is no longer natural which is very important to most people. The second option is to use a sealant on the tiles which protects then from staining and discoloration. This is the most effective way to deal with the problem.

Due to the mineral content, travertine tiles tend to be very colorful with hues ranging from deep beige to a royal gold. These colors seem to pop out of the tiles once they are polished which makes them very sought after in homes where natural colors are being used.

Travertine tiles can be used in several ways. As wall tiles they can cover an entire surface or be used only as accents. As a floor tile they must be sanded down to a more smooth surface and sealed from dirt but they offer a very nice addition. The third use, as a countertop or worktop tile, is not too common because of the rough texture and the porosity which makes sealing from water damage and food residue difficult.

Bat Ye'or addition 5-27-10 by Jerry Gordon New English review

This video is an introduction by Jerry Gordon a Senior editor at the New English Review of eminent scholar and author Bat Ye'or who appeared with her husband David Littman at Cong. Ahavath Torah in Stoughton, Massachusetts on May 27th, 2010. Her appearance at Cong. Ahavath Torah was organized by the synagogue's spiritual leader and close friend of Mr. Gordon, Rabbi Jonathan Hausman. In this brief video Mr. Gordon describes his "discovery" of Bat Ye'or's early book, The Dhimmi, while browsing through a Judaica section of a Barnes & Noble bookstore in Westport, Connecticut in 1984. Fast forward to 2002 when Mr. Gordon and others at Congregation Beth El in Fairfield, Connecticut hosted a presentation by Bat Ye'or. The topic was what should Bat Ye'or talk about. Mr. Gordon indicated that the suggestion was to discuss the islamization of Europe highlighted in a then National Review on-line article by that title. Subsequently, Bat Ye'or wrote an accliamed book on that subject, Eurabia; the Euro-Arab Axis. Mr. Gordon is now a resident in retirement on the Emerald Coast in Northwest Florida.

The Role of a Geospatial Analyst

It's estimated nearly ten thousand geospatial positions are either available right now or will be within the very near future and these numbers are expected to increase. This is an incredible statement, since most employment sectors are downsizing or eliminating positions completely. In short, a geospatial analyst assists with research, development and implementation of any number of geographical systems that allow for successful data collection for various studies and programs. By combining real-time information, latitude and longitude positioning, projections and actual results from satellites or global positioning systems, the analyst collects this information to be fed into a database for private companies, governmental agencies, including all arms of the military and others such as the FBI and NASA. An in depth knowledge of environmental modeling, environmental sciences, computer science, geography, and database design, maintenance and mining are mandatory. Most positions require a degree and many companies, since this is a relatively new employment sector, can provide on the job training and mentoring. These tools, however, won't take the place of a degree.

Geocoding, defined as the process of adding geographic information to a file or database for use in a geographic information system (GIS), uses both "hard copies" and electronic models of maps. Anyone familiar with Google Maps or Microsoft Earth knows the power behind the science of GIS. The foundation behind the science might be zip codes or actual addresses. Needless to say, collecting and inputting this overwhelming amount of information into one database is both time consuming and is only as helpful as it is accurate. The information is used in a myriad of ways, including appraisal efforts, utility planning, marketing, habitat info gathering, transportation and many more. It's generally presented via electronic and 3D imaging methods but is also incorporated into maps, tables and graphs.

One interesting way this new technology is being involves meteorology. An invaluable source of the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami, it can show the damage of storm systems, including major hurricanes and tornadoes, almost as soon as these events happen. Anyone who's seen the before-and- after satellite images available after Hurricane Katrina, knows how powerful these advances are and how crucial the information can be. The nearly-mile long bridge that made travel between Ocean Springs and Biloxi, MS possible was destroyed during this powerful category four hurricane, but not until the satellite images taken before the storm and then the images immediately following this hurricane was perspective found. Casinos that dotted the beach line prior to Katrina, displayed as solid foundations, were replaced with broken dots of what once was. It was with GIS science that these images truly defined the damage. Tornadoes' paths of destruction are easily seen through this science and environmentalists employ geospatial analysts to follow melting icebergs, deteriorating beach lines and can determine how fast oceans are warming. Just as in the late 1980s and early 1990s, when computers were becoming readily available and the internet was in its infancy, at least in terms of it becoming a household necessity, these new geographic info systems are quickly becoming the must-have positions. In fact, a recent survey of meteorology and engineering majors indicated an interest in crossovers into these new advances should the opportunity present itself. As our demand for more technology increases, so will the need for those who can incorporate these technologies into everyday living.

Unlike other databases, information stored for GIS purposes can be accessed by using any number of parameters. One database can provide information based on a few parameters, such as the number of foreclosures in any particular area within a state. That same information, with just a few modifications to the parameters, can provide locations of buried cables. This universal approach, once information has been compiled, researched and entered into the database, will be able to link with other agencies, states and even the government for even broader uses. As one might expect, trained and experienced surveyors, drafters, cartographers, geologists and engineers will be the ideal candidates for these positions. The Department of Labor anticipates a 38% increase for environmental engineers alone within the next decade. The median income is anticipated at nearly $62,000 annually, but it's noted this might be too conservative a number until and unless the supply and demand ratios begin to merge.

Other qualifications that will define ideal candidates include attention to detail since precision and accuracy, if compromised, can result in a domino effect that will affect every inquiry made. Eyesight, coordination, and hearing are beneficial as well as a commitment to continuing education requirements will be necessary across the board in this field. Strong computer skills are a must and the ability to work outdoors in various terrains is required too.

Since satellite imageries often play key roles in effective mapping efforts, those who are adept at not only reading these images, but who can incorporate the information for even more benefits is a focus for employers, both in the private and government sectors. Notable proof of these benefits include the discovery, via GIS, of weapons of mass destruction overseas, tracking devices that are now available for pets and automobiles as well as real-time locations of airplanes at any given moment.

As anticipations grow with each new discovery, geospatial careers promise to become the gateway for highly advanced and instantly available information throughout the world.

The Barnes Book

Barnes Book Review

In 1932 the company started by making pure copper jacketed bullets with a lead core for hunting large game. The bullets worked very well as the design principal is sound. Pure lead and copper are more malleable then harder and more brittle alloys. They gave great penetration and killing powder as they also expanded reliably. Some of the harder alloys might shatter on large bones rather then penetrate and break the bones. I have some that are no longer made and I will hoard them my favorite is the 30 caliber 250 grain. I have some 600 grain in 45 caliber that I will never fire as I don't want the abuse. Anyway I have shot various weights and calibers of these bullets with complete satisfaction.

About two decades ago Barnes started designing and producing pure copper bullets. They felt and correctly so that pure copper bullets will give superior penetration and killing power even with lighter weight bullets. They have established a world wide reputation for a great hunting bullet and also an accurate slug. I have shot quite a few from the 6mm to the 454 Casull. Without exception they have performed quite well. My favorite is the 8mm 200 grain which is very accurate in my 8mm Remington Magnum. I plan on an elk hunt with this bullet. Another thing to think about is lead bullets are banned in some California areas so a hunter is obligated to use a copper or some other non lead alloy in that area. Never mind the stupidly of such a law it's a reality and may spread to other areas. The pure copper Barnes bullets will pass the legal requirements in those areas. Barnes makes some copper bullets with hard alloy cores also.

Honesty would compel me to state that there are a lot of good bullets on the market today, some very sophisticated. No one makes a "bad" bullet but using an incorrect bullet for the game hunted can make any bullet look bad. The Barnes lines of bullets are among the best and they deserve consideration on any serious hunting trip. Like any premium bullet they are not inexpensive but you get what you pay for. If you are going on a high dollar hunting trip it would be the height of folly not to have premium bullets.

I received the Barnes Number Four reloading manual for evaluation. Before you get to the loading tables there is a wealth of information covering everything from reloading procedures to the history of the company. There are many safety tips and a wealth of ballistic info covered also. I strongly recommend that anyone who has this book read it thoroughly whether you are a novice or pro. There is just too much good info not to read it. There is something for everyone from the novice to the expert. They even tell you how to sight in your rifle. The loading data has the usual recommendations for powder charges but instead of a history of the cartridge it has a write up by an experienced hunter who has used it and the results he or she had. They do state in front of the manual that this info may not be suitable for gas operated semi auto rifles. My experience with them is they are definitely more finicky to load for and I try to avoid them when ever possible. There is also a small illustration of which game animals are best suited to that bullet. Since different people write these mini articles up you get many different styles which makes it more interesting to read. They also show the ballistic coefficient and sectional density of each bullet which is valuable info to have. Since Barnes has a large line of bullets there is something for everyone. Like the rifle section handguns are well covered also. They also have data for their muzzle loading projectiles which are pure copper like most of their bullet line. There is information in the muzzle loading section that should enable you to choose the right bullet for your hunting conditions. There are a few lead and copper jacketed bullets still being made mostly for the obsolete calibers such as the 38-55 and 348. They also produce it in the 45-70 which can be used in the 458 with somewhat reduced loads for deer and bear. One thing that I really like about the book is it includes such cartridges as the 500 Nitro Express among other rounds such as the 470 Nitro and the 505 Gibbs. I occasionally load for them and data is scarce so that addition is appreciated by me. It even lists the 577 Nitro!

There are a complete set of tables showing the trajectory of each bullet. It also has useful windage info and time of flight tables. The tables are done somewhat differently then other manuals. If you are planning a hunting trip using Barnes bullets you would do well to study the tables relating to your load. There are energy tables following that then a glossary. If you have any questions regarding which bullet to use this book should answer them. If you have any other questions try http://www.barnesbullets.com and someone there should be able to help you. All in all there are 673 pages jammed packed full of info. The book retails for $24.95 depending on location and is worth every penny of it and more.
