The Best Diet For Belly Fat Reduction

Are you searching for the best diet for belly fat reduction? In this article, I would like to help you determine what would be the best diet for belly fat reduction.

In order to determine if a diet is going to be effective not just for belly fat reduction, but also for total body fat loss, total body weight loss, and to improve your overall health, there are a few key principles this particular must have.

First, stay away from fad diets. Fad diets are those diets that you hear so much about making a ton of ridiculous claims. "No carb diets", "no fat diet", "only eat protein diet", and on and on. My friend, if you want REAL results, you must stay away from fad diets. They are not effective and more importantly, they can actually be harmful to you.

If a diet does not place their focus on any of the basic core principles of a healthy lifestyle, then that particular diet will not be effective. What are the basic core principles of a healthy lifestyle?

- Proper nutrition. If a diet tells you to avoid protein, complex carbs (whole grains), fiber, healthy fats (monounsaturated, Omega), and foods rich in vitamins and minerals, then avoid this diet.

- Exercise. If a diet or weight loss program tells you to avoid weight training....avoid! In order to have successful belly fat reduction and weight loss, you must have a good weight training exercise program. Building lean muscle burns more calories...even while you rest...and even up to 48 hours after your previous workout!

Those are the key basic requirements a great diet for belly fat reduction, weight loss, and total body fat loss would have in order for you to see success.

The Fastest Ways to Get Rid of a Flabby Tummy

Have you been trying everything under the sun to get rid of your flabby tummy with no results? Well, in this article, I would like to share with you the fastest way to get rid of a flabby tummy.

Now, the following principles to help you get rid of a flabby tummy have been shot down by so called "gurus" so that they can push their programs, pills, and products on you. My friend, I have news for you, the following principles have proven the test of time to be the guaranteed methods to get rid of a flabby tummy and of course, total body fat.

What are these principles?

1. Proper nutrition - It begins and it ends with proper nutrition. If you are not eating correctly, you will not see results. The foods you should be eating on a daily basis are: Protein, complex carbs (whole grains), healthy fats (monounsaturated, Omega Fatty Acids), fiber, and of course, foods rich in vitamins and minerals such as fruits and vegetables.

2. Water - Drinking 1/2 to 1 gallon of water every day will help release retained water. This will help in getting rid of that stubborn flabby tummy and excess pounds. Also, drinking plenty of water daily will help with muscle development and your overall health.

3. High intensity exercise - Long boring cardio exercise will not get rid of flab. If you want to melt the flab away, you are going to have to get intense with your workouts. Some examples of high intensity exercise would be walking on a incline treadmill (set the speed to 3.0 and set the incline grade to 5 -15 degrees), and sprinting (to intensify it even more, try hill sprints).

Trim Your Waistline Faster With These Fat Burning Exercises

Looking for the best fat burning exercises to trim your waistline and lose weight faster? That's great news! It's great news because you have already taken the first step to getting a trim waistline and losing those stubborn pounds.....you are seeking for solutions. If you want solutions, simply take 2 minutes out of your day and read this article here.... First things first. Always remember and understand that to lose inches from your waistline and lose pounds, you are going to have to grasp and practice all the core principles of a healthful way of life if you are expecting to get results.

What are these core principles? Simply put, correct nourishment (protein, complicated carbohydrates such as whole grains, healthy fats like monounsaturated, fiber, and foods loaded in minerals and vitamins), drink lots of water daily (I like to recommend for you to drink 0.5 to one gallon or more of water daily), make sure to get plenty of sleep each night (7-8 hours of rest continually is perfect), and of course...make sure you exercise. Now, what are the best fat burning exercises to trim your waistline and lose stubborn pounds? My friend, simply put, high intensity exercising. High intensity exercises produce remarkable results...and does so speedily. These are some examples of high intensity exercises:

Super set weight lifting: What you are going to want to do is alternate between 2 different weight training workouts ( i.e. Squats and push ups ) without rest and do so for up to 3 sets of ten reps per exercise. After the super set, rest for two mins.

Incline treadmill: Rather than cruising a long all relaxed on the treadmill...crank that sucker up!!! lol Walking on an incline treadmill is a tremendous workout that is one of the best fat burning exercises to get a trim waistline and melt the fat away. For noobs I like to recommend for you to stroll at a speed of 3.0 and an incline of six degrees. If you are more advanced, stroll at a speed of 3.5 + and at an incline of at least twelve and no more than fifteen degrees.

Sprinting: Sprints are short, intense, and an amazing workout to help lose fat fast. Simply sprint at full speed between to points of location, and repeat for at least ten mins for a tummy busting workout! Following a smart diet program customized specifically your body type, and doing the above exercises are a surefire way to trim your waistline and get fit fast!

The Best Exercises to Get Rid of Belly Fat Fast

I would like to show the best exercises to get rid of belly fat fast. Take just 2 minutes out of your day to read this brief article to learn about some of the best ways to exercises to lose belly fat fast.

A good diet and exercise plan is the most effective way to put yourself in a position to shed your belly fat. Be sure to make exercising enjoyable along your journey, that way you will help out your willpower to stay committed.

Some of the best ab exercises to get rid of belly fat are leg raises and concentrated sit-ups (holding at the top position and doing slow movements). Besides ab exercises, you have to do total body exercises because you have to lose TOTAL body fat...not just belly fat. Firstly, always make sure you place a lot of emphasis on doing weight training exercises. Having lean muscle will burn off more fat at a much more accelerated rate. As far as cardio is concerned, I recommend doing high intensity cardio such as sprinting or the incline treadmill.

Doing all these exercises will affect the entire area of the belly and will produce the best results.

So, make sure you have a solid and customized diet plan specifically for your body type, focus more on doing total body exercises, practice proper nutrition, get plenty of sleep every night, drink plenty of water daily (I recommend for you to drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces), and stay consistent! Doing so will help you get rid of belly fat in no time!

Build Your Own Online Network

Many online business owners and marketers use a variety of tools to make their business successful. Good strategies include maintaining a web site, publishing an ezine, joining affiliate programs, advertising on other people's ezines, and much, much more. As any good Internet "guru" will tell you, getting your name and product "out there" is the most important part of your success. So, the general rule is: Use as many strategies as possible.

What I suggest is that you take this rule one step farther. What I think works best is combining as many of the strategies together, as possible. In other words, when you can, build your own network, using the tools you already have in place. And I'm using the word network, as it relates to networking your online systems -- not in the sense of a prospect or client network, though I have some tips on that, near the end of this article.

So, let's break down this concept. Suppose you have a web site that promotes a product or service. You probably have a sales letter, some testimonials and a merchant account, so people can buy your product. Now, what I would suggest next, if you don't already have it, is your own ezine (online magazine, operated by an e-mail autoresponder). You get visitors to subscribe to your ezine, using a pop-up or another type of FREE subscription form on your web site. Again, this may not be new to most people, but here's another spin on it. In addition to your pop-up or basic sign-up form on your site, why not add a page to your site, with a link on your home page, that does nothing but promote your ezine.

You see, many people pass up your subscription form, because they are afraid of SPAM, or they don't know enough about your ezine. Will it interest them? Or, will it just bombard them with more advertising?

A separate page can explain exactly what the ezine does, promote articles that you have in it, even give a sample issue, so prospects can see what they are getting. Be sure to have several subscription forms on this page between sections of your text, so people have plenty of opportunity to subscribe. Also, be sure that visitors are linked back to your home page, once they've subscribed, so they get back to looking at your product. Any good autoresponder will have this feature, which is crucial, because although you desperately want people signing up for your ezine, you also want them to read your sales letter and, hopefully, buy your product.

Make sure your EzineArticles always link back to your web site, so you are constantly promoting yourself. After all, this is really what ezines are for.

Another part of good online networking is to set up affiliate programming, in a similar fashion to the aforementioned ezine promotion. That is, instead of just offering your own product as an affiliate program, set up a separate page on your web site for affiliate programs you use. So, you might have a link on your home/sales page called "Other Great Products." Obviously, you can use your own creativity for this title.

This link will take visitors to a site that promotes other products, for which you gain a commission as an affiliate. If you are unfamiliar with affiliate programs, visit ClickBank, the largest free affiliate program on the Internet. Most Internet marketers only offer their own product to people, who want to join affiliate programs, or they may offer just one other related product, with a link on their home page.

Plus, don't forget any other web sites of your own. Always be sure to link to them on all of your URLs and in your ezine articles. The key to building your own online network is to be sure you have promotional pages for all of your products and affiliates on your web sites and to link everything together. Remember, you want every visitor on your e-mail list, and you always want them landing back on your promotional pages.

One final thought. Promoting your business network offline is also critical to your success. Some basic techniques I use are:

o URL on return address stickers

o Business cards with ezine address and web site

o Fliers at community businesses and public places (be sure your community knows you above all others)

o Free seminars in regional communities, discussing my topic (remember, you don't need to make money here - all you want is to get your name out there and to get e-mail addresses, so you can add them to your ezine list)

o Teach a class at a community college (get more e-mail addresses)

o Give free information away at community festivals, like Home Days

o Advertise in your local Money Saver magazines. It's cheap, and it reaches tens of thousands of people, who love cheap or free stuff.

o Anything else you can think of that get people to your site and to your ezine

Stay positive. Building a network takes time and hard work, but it's well worth it in the end.

Barry Bonds Deals Baseball yet Another Black Eye

As the steroid talk swirls around baseball like the juice surging into Jason Giambi's veins, America's favorite pastime continues to be bruised, right when spring training is getting started. First, it was Giambi's admission of taking the muscle-enhancing drug. Then, Jose Canseco shocked the sports world with his tell-all book about his use of steroids, swinging a syringe with better accuracy than he ever swung a bat. Now, it's baseball's homerun king, Barry Bonds, making us despise the sport's most talented player, with his strange ramblings at a preseason press conference, laced with perfunctory glances at interviewers, lame defenses of his own lousy image, along with distracting accusations aimed at various targets.

Man, is this guy easy to hate. "I don't know what cheating is," he says about the potential help steroid use gives to baseball players. How can adding dozens of pounds of muscles increase ones production, Barry wonders? This coming from a guy who entered the league weighing roughly 180 pounds before adding 46 pounds to his frame in a little over three seasons. Furthermore, in his first seven years in the league Bonds never hit 35 home runs. He was a 19 to 25 HR guy, except for two seasons of 33 and 34. Now, the ballooned up Barry, the one who doesn't believe steroids can help hitters, bashes 45 or more homers each season, as if he were hitting super balls. But he's not cheating, he claims.

In addition to the pitiful, "I don't know what cheating is" statement, Bonds managed to blame all of his woes on the probing media and, of course, on racism. "Babe Ruth was a great player," Bonds says, "but he wasn't black. I'm black, and it's tougher for blacks." Only some tears would make his act more incredible. Again, I say, this guy is easier to hate than cancer. First of all, what problems does he have? Millions and millions of dollars in his pocket? Playing a game for a living? Incredible popularity? A few questions from interviewers? This is the life of Barry Bonds, and this guy has the audacity to pull the race card? Every African American and baseball fan should join me in hating this racist crybaby. "But I'm not a racist," Bonds says. I wish I had a dollar for every person who ever made a comment like this one and then followed it up with "But I'm not a racist." I'd probably have as much money as Barry.

Michael Jordan, arguably the greatest basketball player ever, hounded every waking moment by the media, never made such a ridiculous statement about black people in sports having it tougher. Jerry Rice, the greatest wide receiver in NFL history, hands down, never whined about discrimination making his life more difficult than his white predecessors. It's because these guys didn't use steroids, and these guys were true, hard-working, non-cheating professionals. Not to mention the fact that they were gentlemen.

This is not to say that racism doesn't still exist in America. It obviously does. In fact, it may even exist in some sports. But it does not exist to the extent that Barry suggests. Does Barry deal with death threats, like Hank Aaron did the entire season he approached Babe Ruth's mark? Of course not. In fact, for some bizarre, inexplicable reason, there is a large contingent of Bonds fans actually rooting for this jerk to break Aaron's record. It's hard to figure. Aaron never complained about racism, and he entered the batters box nightly, fearing for his very life. And now, 30 years later, he is one of the most revered leaders the game has. Aaron, like Jordan and Rice and Ruth and a myriad of other great athletes, has a legacy. What legacy does the cheating racist, Barry Bonds, have? I think the answer lies within the question. He'll be remembered as a baseball player, who could have been one of the greatest ever, if he hadn't been a cheater and a liar and a racist.

Meanwhile, the more Bonds and others like him talk, the bigger baseball's black eye gets.

Managing Stress

To try and create a totally stress free life would be both unrealistic and undesirable. Stress arising from your work, your family life and other personal relationships, in fact just the everyday business of living and trying to survive as well as you possibly can inevitably leads to stress. It is unavoidable. Further more, some degree of stress could be said to be good for you! Dealing with stressors (the things that cause us stress) teaches us new knowledge and skills. In fact, a famous Swiss philosopher-developmental psychologist, Jean Piaget believed that intelligence arises out of a child's struggle to maintain homeostatic equilibrium with the environment. That's a fancy way of saying that learning through struggle how to survive in an environment that is continually changing develops our "smarts". A very simple example is that when it is cold we put on woolly clothes and thereby maintain our necessary body temperature of about 98.4F.

Trying to deal with too many stressful situations at the same time, to deal with strong continuing stress over too long a period, or with a stress that is overwhelming in its severity can lead to depression, panic attacks and a whole host of physical problems. The physical problems can include angina or heart pains, various forms of skin rashes, colitis, and high blood pressure just to name the most common.

Here are some ways to reduce stress:

Postpone major life changes. Have you been planning to retire or possibly shift your family to another State or country with a nicer climate or higher salaries and find work there? Or get married? Or have children? Or "throw in" your job and start a business? Or go on an expensive holiday? If the change you have been contemplating seems more stressful than exciting then perhaps you should confer with your "significant others" with a view to postponing or totally re-considering the dreamed of change.

Learn to relax. Try to get 7 or 8 hours sleep. If you have been having trouble sleeping you might be suffering depression, especially if you have also noticed significant changes to your appetite. Make sure you give yourself time to relax. This is important. Some time spent watching the football on TV can be a form of medicine! Or working on your hobby or pastime. For a time I was seeing a 37 year old man, the owner-driver of a truck, suffering heart palpitations while driving. Tests showed his heart was OK but he was never tested while suffering the palpuitations. He worked day and night including weekends and would not let anyone else help him. He insisted on cleaning his truck every day and doing it himself. He said he was working to give his children a better future. I failed to influence him and so there is a real doubt in my mind that he will survive to see his children actually enjoying that better future. Let go. Relaxation is necessary. The work my colleagues and I do is very tiring and draining. One of my colleagues has taken up Yoga and has sung its praises so enthusiastically that I am starting too. There are also simple methods of progressive relaxation such as I use to induce hypnosis but can be done on oneself - almost identical in fact to the yoga relaxation method.

Exercise. Try to get daily exercise. Stretching exercises are very good for maintaining that youthful feeling. And three or four times per week minimum you could get some brisk cardio-vascular exercise for at least 40 minutes. By "brisk" I mean brisk enough to make you sweat and puff and your heart rate to increase. Taking a dog for a walk can be good exercise. After 2 weeks of very regular exercise like this it tends to become addictive by which I mean it ceases seeming like a chore and you come to feel something is missing when you don't do it. This sort of exercise is also an excellent treatment for depression. Swimming for say 40 minutes is also excellent stress-relieving exercise.

Make a pact with yourself to become more assertive. In short, learn to say, "No!" Instead of always saying "Yes", and taking on new commitments or agreeing to do things you really deep down don't want to do - just smile and say, "No, definitely, no". If you are then subjected to wheedling just continue to smile and keep saying "No, no, no". If you are then subjected to flattery, "Oh, but you are so good at it!", just keep smiling and say, "That's very kind of you - but - No", like a broken record. If you are asked to explain your refusal, refuse to do so. Just say something like, "No, I won't be explaining my refusal apart from saying that what you are asking is not consistent with my present responsibilities and commitments." This could lead to more wheedling but just keep up the "broken record" response. It can all be done with a charming smile. There's no need to be obnoxious or aggressive in saying, "No". Here's a hint that will help enormously - say "No" quickly, immediately you detect that a conversation is leading you in an unwanted direction. Only today I got a phone call from a lady who started out, "I'm calling from Rotary and I thought you might like to know what we are doing - " at that point I cut her off with, "No, not this time but thanks for calling". She started to say, "Alright, have a nice day" but I had hung up - click - before she finished. I detected she had been about to ask for a donation so I killed her expectation of success immediately before she could subject me to more persuasion. Say "No" and say it fast. Failing to do this can lead the other person to faulty expectations and thereby anger, so this is especially important in personal relationships. If you mean "No" then say it fast and say it plainly and unambiguously. It can be done with a smile. If necessary repeat your "No" over and over like a broken record. Refuse to give explanations.

Attend to your relationships, marital and others. If you have marital or other relationship problems deal with them. You might have to seek counselling either as a couple or on your own. If you are in a toxic relationship then maybe you can simply bite the bullet and get rid of it. If you cannot do that then at least get some help in rationalising the situation and getting it to a less stressful state.

Finances. Money or lack of it is a very common cause of stress. If you are in a stressful financial situation don't hesitate to get help in sorting it out. There are investment advisors that can help you rationalise your finances and the banks have their people who can counsel you and help rationalise your situation. Government agencies the equivalent of Australia's "Centrelink" offer financial counselling and the government provides special financial counselling for farmers. Don't try to tough it out or the situation could get worse. If you see your bank as a potential serious problem then don't wait for the bank to harrass you - get in first and go to the bank and confess your situation. More often than not banks negotiate livable situations for their customers.

An Explanation of an Employment Gap

Reentering the workforce after a hiatus of any length can be difficult on your job search and cause concern in your potential employers. Still, most professionals have experienced a gap in their employment history at one time or another and many are living in the gap currently, due to the languishing economy of today. The key to landing a job after having a break in working for a period of time is to effectively handle your explanation for the Employment Gap professionally and fearlessly. Here are some tips to help you do just that.

Revise Your Resume

Your resume will always require some polishing and revisions when applying to any job after any amount of time, but when you have been on a break, you need to update your resume to include what you have been doing since your last job. Any volunteer work, educational, or skills training programs can be used to fill in the spaces where you would have placed employment histories in chronological order. This type of resume can be written in a bullet form; it would be a functional resume and simply state your skills and places of employment while omitting dates and years. If you wish to use a chronologically ordered resume you can give it a better look by using years instead of dates. For example, instead of writing USA Banking Center March 2004-June 2005, you would write USA Banking Center 2004-2005. Employers tend to pay greater attention to dates, not the years they correspond to.

Uncover Employment Gaps in a Cover Letter

You should already be using a cover letter in your job search, no matter what the case. It is a professional and personalized part of the application package, and if you have suffered from unemployment for any length of time it is the perfect opportunity to elaborate on your employment gap. You can go into detail about why you have been unemployed and what you have been doing in the meantime. Whether you had to stay home to raise children or to care for ill parents, took time off from working to educate yourself or simply struck out in the Job Search playing field for awhile, you should be honest and remain professional. While you don't want to sound like you are asking for sympathy, most employers can understand that life sometimes gets in the way.

Draw Attention to Everything but Your Employment Gap

While your employment gap may make you wary of your chances of landing a job, if you've worked at all or had job related training or education, remember there is more to what you have accomplished working. An employer will be more concerned with how you spent that time than the fact that you had a gap at all. Revise your resume, go over the employment gap briefly in your cover letter and then let it go. If it is brought up in an interview, remain professional and calmly explain the reason for your employment gap again, adding what you have learned from and during it.

Remember that the employer was obviously interested in the skills, education, and experience you had previously accumulated enough to invite you in for a chat that could result in a job.

4 Steps To A V Shaped Torso

If you want to have a V shaped torso and get that classic body look then you are going to have to build big shoulders and a wide back. This article will look at the 4 steps you need to undertake to get the body shape of your dreams.

Work On You Shoulders

Having big shoulders is the first thing you need to work on to create a V shaped torso. The reason for this is obvious. The wider you are at the top of your body then the narrower you will look at the waist. You therefore need to make sure you dedicate a whole workout tragetting your shoulders once a week (and only once a week - when you do chest work you will also work your shoulders).

Work Your Back

You will also need to build a wide back that tapers down to your waist. To do this you will need to make the pull up bar your best friend. Use an overhand grip and make sure your hands are wider than shoulder width apart to reduce your reliance on your biceps and instead use your lat muscles. If you are finding using the bar too tough going then use a lat pull down machine to build up your strength before you move onto the bar.

Burn The Belly Fat

You will need to burn your belly fat if you want a V shaped torso. Doing short bursts of high intensity cardio burn more calories than slow and routine cardio work outs. Therefore alternate 20 seconds of all out effort with 10 seconds of recovery for 5 minute sets.

Stand Up Straight

This one is easy. By standing up straight and not slouching you will appear broader across your chest and narrower at your waist. It's also good for your posture and back muscles!

Companies - What Are They?

Depending on where you are in the world you can always identify a company because it will normally have the words "limited" or "Inc" after its title.

But what is a company and why are they important? A company is an entity which has its own legal personality. What this means is that in the eyes of the law a company is its own legal person. This means a company can own a property, it can enter into contracts, it can employ people, it can sue, and it can be sued.

The company is made up of its shareholders and is run by its board of directors. A director does not have to be a shareholder although most normally are. Other than voting at general meetings of the company shareholders normally have very little say in how a company will be run (unless there is an agreement to the contrary).

A shareholder pays money for his shares when he joins the company. Upon the company receiving this money the company will issue the share certificates to the shareholder and at that point he then properly becomes a member of the company.

The reason why companies are referred to as limited is because of the concept of "limited liability". Once a shareholder pays his money for his shares he will not have to give the company any more money in the future. If the company owes debts of $2 million it is the company which owes the money and not the shareholder. The liability of each shareholder is limited to the amount of money he paid for his shares and he cannot be asked for any more money by any creditor.

Ron

I met Ron first time a couple of years ago and we became friends immediately. He is a guy with a great sense of humor and knows how to keep strong and joyful against any odds. I met him again last Saturday; I was just starting a long walk on the Capital Crescent Trail; he was in front of the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Bethesda. Kids were running enthusiastically around, as always, and he was playing his guitar, happy for the folks there, happy for the wonderful sound of his voice.

Barnes and Noble Job Applications and Working Here

Barnes and Noble began as a simple printing shop for books by Charles Barnes in 1873 in Wheaton, Illinois. William Barnes his son in partnership with Clifford Nobles opened up the very first what is known as "Barnes & Noble's Bookstore" in New York City. The first bookstore was located at 31 West 15th St. and remained open all through World War I. Mr. Leonard Riggio bought out the bookstores in 1971 overseeing the growth of the stores until today. Today the stores are considered the largest bookstores in the United States.

You can go into their stores and buy books or tapes or you can order what you want online. Barnes & Noble's keeps all the up-dated- materials in their stores but you can also order older books. The stores are noted for having a coffee shop inside so that you can enjoy reading a book, or listening to a tape while having a cup of coffee, hot chocolate, or tea and perhaps a scone or muffin. The store is well known for providing the customers with many comforts to help them enjoy reading books. In different sections of the store you will find sofas or easy chairs for your reading comfort.

Working at Barnes and Noble

The employee's also like working for Barnes & Noble's because of the warm atmosphere in their working environment, the availability of all the different books and tapes as well as the lucrative benefit package. Employee's received a discount on their purchases and is permitted to stay and listen to the tapes if they prefer. This is a great place to work for college students, teachers, or professors. People who enjoy reading books usually like working at a Barnes & Noble as well.

Children like the store because of the area provided where they too can set and read books, the reading corner where their teacher can bring them and read to the class, or the ability to come in with their parents and find good reading materials. The store also has many different learning materials that can be used to help younger students while they are learning to read. Barnes & Noble's is a family store enjoyed by all.

When you compare a place like this to their competitors such as Borders, etc, when it comes to working here, they seem to be rather similar. If you love reading and love a quiet atmosphere, this may be a place to work!

A Father's Day Gift - Memories of My Dad

I want to start out by saying that if your father is still in your life, be very thankful. For me, that would be a true father's day gift since I lost my dad a few years ago.

Until it happens, you just don't realize how hard it is to lose someone that you love. So, on this father's day, if you're father is still here, please remember him and let him him know how much you love him. That would be my best father's day gift idea ever. I know everyone gets caught up in getting presents and everything, but sometimes showing your love to your family can be more than enough. It always has been for me.

My father was one of the hardest working people I ever knew, and thankfully I got my drive and 'never give up' attitude from him. That has been a saving grace many times in my life. He worked for a lumber company, and this was the only job he ever worked until the mill closed down. The job he had there was very hard (running the saw), and I remember all the callouses on his hands, but he never complained when he got home. As he got older, I could see all the aches and pains he suffered, but he never said anything about them and he never used them as an excuse as a way out of doing something. He raised us kids that if you have a job, always take pride in what you do and appreciate the fact that you can provide for your family. That really is something with the way things are today too. You know what, he never ever missed one day of work in his life. I can't say as much since I did have to take time off when I was having my children.

Another thing I'll always remember is the pride my father took in everything he did, especially our yard. That was his pride and joy. If one of us cut the grass, and it wasn't just right, he'd go back over it but wouldn't make us feel bad about it. He just taught us that we all have our own way of doing things and to respect that. "Just because I do things differently than you, doesn't make it wrong," he said more than once. "That's why this country is great. We can all follow our own path, but just because one path is different doesn't make it wrong."

More than anything, my father just loved to be in the great outdoors. He couldn't wait for that first inkling of Spring to come so he could work on his garden and planting flowers all around our house. I still can't wait for Spring remembering the smell of all those beautiful flowers filling our house for months. So many times, we'd tell him he needed to take a break since he'd come home from working at the mill all day to work outside. He would just tell us that life was to short and we should do the things in life that made us happy. Even when he got sick, he would still try to get out in the yard to work in his garden. It drove my mom crazy sometimes, but she understood his passion.

The one relaxing thing my dad loved to do was playing Rook. He loved that game so much that the minute he heard someone say they enjoyed it, they would immediately be whisked off to play it, especially strangers. My father was always talking to strangers and had no problems striking up a conversation with anyone. It didn't matter who they were or their beliefs, he never judged them. "I can learn from people I disagree with more than I can by always being around people who share my believes," he told me when I asked him about this. He also would say that he learned more about what was really going on in the world that way than just sitting in front of the TV all day. I barely remember him ever watching tv come to think of it. The only thing my dad didn't have any patience for was if anyone ever spoke ill of his children or family. That would be the only time I ever saw him get angry, and it made me realize the value of family.

I was so nervous that he might get angry the night my husband proposed to me. You know, I don't really know why either. I think that most women are afraid their father won't approve of a choice they make. Nothing is worse than getting that look. I know I've been guilty of giving to my kids sometimes. That night my dad had just gotten back from my cousin's wedding, and we were all in the kitchen. He was eating potato chips, and when I showed him my engagement ring, he nodded slightly and just started shoving them in his mouth like crazy. Afraid that he was going to choke, my mom gave him a glass of water and asked him if he understood. He took a long swallow of water, slowly turned to look at my husband and asked him one question. "Are you going to be good to my daughter?" After my husband said a solemn "Yes" he was ready to celebrate our future.

I had moved to Atlanta before my dad got sick so it was a real shock since he was always in perfect health. I don't remember him even getting a cold and now he was suddenly close to death. When I walked in the front door of my childhood home, he just smiled at me and said "I didn't think I was going to get to see you again." That just broke my heart since it let me know just how seriously ill he was. My father was not one to say things like that to make you feel guilty for not getting home enough. During his remaining time here on earth, I tried to get home to see him as often as I could since his illness stayed with him for a few years. It was so hard to see him suffering more and more, and I just felt like I wasn't able to get home as often as I wanted. I think I truly felt that the more I could see him, it would keep him going and staying alive. Sometimes we get greedy with people and want them to stay around even when they're ready to go.

I didn't get to be there when my father decided it was time for him to move on, and it killed me so much. I don't know how many times I asked myself why couldn't I have made the trip there then. Why was it the weekend before and things like that? My mom told me that he didn't want to have us around when it was that time since he wanted to share it with her. She was his whole life and best friend and that was something for the two of them to say their final goodbyes. It took me a long time to understand that, but my dad didn't need all of us kids just crying around him when he was ready to make his journey. He wanted the last person for him to see was my mom.

I was staying with my mom for awhile after that trying to help her get everything squared away. One morning she came to my door and asked if I heard dad waking us up, and I asked her what she meant. She laughed and said that there was a bird on the windowsill singing all morning and chirping. It was a bluejay, my dad's favorite bird and to her, it was like he was telling us to get out of bed and enjoy life. We'd spent too much time mourning and not enjoying the morning so it was time for us to also move on.

Are Both Consultation and Counseling Skills Needed by the Independent Consultant?

A useful distinction can be made between consultation and counseling. Consultation can be defined as giving expert advice or information. Whereas, counseling can be defined as a support process intended to help someone to solve a personal or family problem. If you have established yourself as an expert in a given area, you will be asked to provide consultation or counseling as the need is established. Both the subject matter and the needs of the client will determine whether consultation or counseling is indicated. As one who has done both over several decades, the distinction I have made is what I will share with you.

Clients tend to need you for two reasons. Either they are too busy or too lazy to become self-sufficient or self-reliant. For example, I may encounter a client who wants to acquire funds for a project, but does not know how to write a proposal that might attract attention and perhaps funding from a foundation or individual donor. In this instance, this person would be a potential client for a consulting relationship. I can draft up a Consultant Agreement to guide the client through the steps required in preparing a proposal for submission, review the proposal after the client writes it, make recommendations for changes and additions, and review the final draft. If the client agrees to the procedure, we can have a meeting of the minds, sign the agreement and the process can begin. If the client asks that I write a full proposal, the fee would be substantially larger because of the additional commitment of time and work.

An example of counseling would be my being asked to provide group counseling for foster parents of children diagnosed as having attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD). It would be clear that these parents have a common interest in acquiring practical strategies for managing the often very difficult behavior of these youngsters. The goal of these foster parents would be to help these youngsters to develop into reasonably self-sufficient young adults who have learned to self-manage their problems and to thrive given their challenges. Often a request for individual counseling will emerge from the group counseling because of situation peculiar to an individual child that can't be adequately addressed in the group.

In summary, the way I make the distinction between consulting and counseling is based on the need the client has for practical results-a desire for practical results within budgeted time and money. Consultation may then be the best choice. On the other hand counseling may be indicated when the client is looking for behavioral change, either for himself or herself, their family, or to improve a distressing life situation. Counseling usually implies a more extended relationship than consultation.

Lose Tummy Fat - Get a Flat Tummy With These Foods!

If you want to lose tummy fat, it begins and it ends with proper nutrition! It doesn't matter what exercise machine you get, if you are not eating correctly, it's pretty much a waste of your time and your money. My friend, in this article, I will show you the top 6 foods to get a flat tummy fast! Read on to learn more.

Okay, first things first. In order to lose tummy fat, and total body fat for that matter, having a solid understanding of the core principles of a healthy lifestyle will help you out tremendously in the long run. The core principles are proper nutrition (which I'll talk more about later), drinking an adequate amount of water daily (1/2 - 1 gallon daily), getting plenty of sleep every night (7-8 hours is ideal), cardio exercise (I recommend for you to do high intensity cardio as that will produce the quickest and most efficient results), and weight training exercise.

Now, let's talk about proper nutrition. As I already mentioned above, if you want to lose tummy fat, what you eat is of the utmost importance.

Proper nutrition consists of:

-Protein: (fish, protein shakes, almonds, etc.)
-Complex carbs: (whole grains)
-Fiber: (green veggies, bran, quinoa, etc.)
-Healthy fats: (nuts, olive oil, etc.)
-Vitamins and minerals: (veggies, fruits, etc.).

Eat those types of foods daily in small portions and divided up into small meals. Eating small meals will boost your metabolism and you'll lose tummy fat a whole lot quicker, plus you'll stay more full through out the day.
