"Institutional Shareholder Services, the influential investment advisory service, is reportedly backing billionaire investor Ron Burkle for the Barnes & Noble (BKS) board, Reuters reported. The recommendation is seen as a blow to the bookstore chain, which is in the middle of a proxy war with Burkle, the report said. Burkle's Yucaipa Companies owns 18.8% of the company's shares and is its second-largest shareholder, the report said. Barnes & Noble shares are up 0.94%, or $0.15, to $16.03."
